We are thrilled you are interested in becoming a member of LJWC: a strong, active organization of women devoted to Lemont!
Don’t let the “Junior” in our name fool you! All women over the age of 18 are welcome. The difference between a Junior Woman’s Club and a Woman’s Club is the direction it takes. A Junior Club is primarily service-oriented, and a Woman’s Club is more social.
As you consider joining our organization, please review the following expectations for active members:
- Pay your membership dues ($60) promptly each year.
- Serve on a standing committee/assist the club in a specific capacity. You must chair at least 1 event/special committee/project/initiative or volunteer for at least 2 events/projects.
- Support our Annual Full Club Fundraiser (all club members are expected to participate and buy a ticket).
- Attend your standing committee meetings when your committee chair schedules them.
- Respond to emails or texts sent by the head of your committee within 24 hours.
- Be willing to hold office, if you are elected.
- Attend and participate in monthly general meetings. We require that you attend at least 1 out of every 3 general meetings (3 out of 9 meetings September - May).
- Make motions to bring business before the board.
- Vote for amendments or projects that you agree with. If you are unsure, ask the presiding board member before voting takes place.
- Mentor new members and make them feel welcome.
